FBG Arrays for Quasi-Distributed Sensing: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) array is a powerful technique for quasi-distributed sensing along the entire length of fiber with fast response and high precision. It has been widely used temperature, strain, vibration monitoring. In this review work, an overview on recent advances FBG arrays conducted. Firstly, fabrication methods are reviewed, which include femtosecond laser system online writing technique. Then, demodulation techniques presented discussed. Distributed static can be performed by demodulating wavelength shift each FBG, while phase low noise employed dynamic sensing. Simultaneous distributed based also outlined. Finally, possible future directions discussed concluded. believed that great development potential application prospect.

Corrosion Resistant FBG-Based Quasi-Distributed Sensor for Crude Oil Tank Dynamic Temperature Profile Monitoring

This article presents a corrosion resistant, maneuverable, and intrinsically safe fiber Bragg grating (FBG)-based temperature optical sensor. Temperature monitoring is a critical activity for the oil and gas industry. It typically involves acquiring the desired parameters in a hazardous and corrosive environment. The use of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was proposed as a means of simultaneousl...

Self-Evaluation of PANDA-FBG Based Sensing System for Dynamic Distributed Strain and Temperature Measurement

A novel method is introduced in this work for effectively evaluating the performance of the PANDA type polarization-maintaining fiber Bragg grating (PANDA-FBG) distributed dynamic strain and temperature sensing system. Conventionally, the errors during the measurement are unknown or evaluated by using other sensors such as strain gauge and thermocouples. This will make the sensing system compli...

Femtosecond FBG Written through the Coating for Sensing Applications

Type I fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) written through the coating of various off-the-shelf silica fibers with a femtosecond laser and the phase-mask technique are reported. Inscription through most of the common coating compositions (acrylate, silicone and polyimide) is reported as well as writing through the polyimide coating of various fiber cladding diameters, down to 50 µm. The long term anneal...

Two Interrogated FBG Spectral Linewidth for Strain Sensing through Correlation

The spectral linewidth from two cross-correlated fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are interrogated and characterized using a delayed self-homodyne method for fiber strain sensing. This approach employs a common higher frequency resolution instead of wavelength. A sensitivity and resolution of 166 MHz/με and 50 nε were demonstrated from 4 GHz spectral linewidth characterization on the electric spectr...

Multi-electrode arrays technology for the non-invasive recording of neural signals: a review article

The recording of electrophysiological activities of brain neurons in the last half-century has been considered as one of the effective tools for the development of neuroscience. One of the techniques for recording the activity of nerve cells is the multi-electrode arrays (MEAs). Microelectrode arrays (MEAs) are usually employed to record electrical signals from electrogenic cells like neurons o...
